Hostility and hate speech directed at scientists, science communi­cators, and scientific institu­tions have noticeably increased in recent years – not least due to the COVID-19 pande­mic. But how can science communi­cation professionals respond to such attacks, prepare for them, and find support?

This workshop offers insights into this challenging topic, intro­duces the advisory and support services provided by the national contact point Scicomm-Support, and provides space for exchange and practical first steps in dealing with such situations.

Scicomm-Support offers assistance and advice to scientists and science communi­cators facing hostility, attacks, or disruptive conflicts in their communi­cation efforts. For more infor­mation, please visit: www.scicomm-support.de.

The “Diversity Lunch” series is a cooperation between the CRCs “Media of Cooperation” and “Transformations of the Popular” and invites all members and interested people to discuss current topics and issues relating to diversity in science.
